WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), the official distributor of GAC in Malaysia, marked a significant milestone with the commencement of mass production for its second locally assembled (CKD) model, the GAC EMKOO, at the assembly plant in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.
This achievement underscores the deepening technical partnership between WTCA and GAC International, and follows the successful CKD rollout of the GAC GS3 EMZOOM last year. The EMKOO’s Start of Production (SOP) reflects continued progress in localisation efforts and further cements the collaboration between both parties in accelerating high-quality automotive manufacturing in Malaysia.
The SOP rollout ceremony was officiated by Mr. Tan Keng Meng, Chief Executive Officer of WTCA, and Mr. Ye Shao Jian, Vice General Manager of GAC International, they were joined by representatives from both organisations who jointly conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the occasion, including Ms. Yap Yoke Moi, Chief Operating Officer of Business Operation, and Mr. Loh Ling Howe, Chief Operating Officer of Commercial, representing WTCA; as well as Mr. Li JianLu, Director of Technical Center, and Ms. Carrie Liu, KD Project Manager, representing GAC Group.
“We are proud to advance to the next chapter of our CKD journey with the launch of EMKOO mass production,” said Mr. Tan Keng Meng. “This milestone highlights our capability to meet global quality standards while assembling vehicles locally. The EMKOO reflects our joint commitment to delivering technologically advanced and design-forward vehicles to Malaysian consumers in a timely and efficient manner.”

The GAC EMKOO is set to be officially introduced in the Malaysian market in Q3 2025, bringing with it a new standard of intelligent design and futuristic styling to the mid-size SUV segment. With this second CKD model now in full production, WTCA reinforces its role in driving Malaysia’s automotive localisation ambitions while delivering top-tier quality and innovation.
